Ferments, Family and a Legacy of Cabbage

At 21, Blaise caught the fermentation bug and founded Gaga’s with a simple mission: to make real, living ferments a staple in Australian homes. Today, he and his wife Annie run the business together with close family, handcrafting some of the country’s favourite fermented foods.

While studying food science at university, Blaise realised he wasn’t drawn to ultra-processed food. He cared about living microbes, real flavour and the quiet magic of fermentation—values that now shape everything we make.

Gaga’s is also rooted in family farming history. Blaise’s great-grandfather, Michael “Gaga” Tobin, was a cabbage farmer, and his legacy continues in every jar. We’re proud to be a small, family-run business honouring tradition, championing Australian produce and celebrating the simple art of fermentation.

We refuse to use plastic packaging

Wherever possible Gaga's is committed to using alternatives to plastic. You'll notice all our products are sold in glass jars & bottles. From 2020 we also made the change to paper labels across our entire range.

We use high-quality Australian-made glass jars and bottles. We encourage you to repurpose these containers at home—use them for storing spices, keeping food in the fridge, or your own at-home ferments. They’re made to be useful long after the contents are gone.

Full-Circle Sustainability

At Gaga's, we embrace a full-circle approach to sustainability. Every bit of green waste from our kitchen is sent back to the farm. This not only recycles nutrients but also supports our commitment to organic farming practices, helping us grow healthier, more robust crops.
